1971 Topps Missing Links: Throughout the season in these series preview posts, I'll be featuring 18 different cards I've created for players and coaches who suited up for the Phillies in 1971 but did not receive a card (or their own card) within the 1971 Topps set. Coach George Myatt is the first card from this insert set, and Myatt was the team's third base coach under manager Frank Lucchesi from 1970 until both men were relieved of their duties in 1972. Myatt had been a coach with the club since 1964.
For opponents with no cards in the 1971 Topps set, or where I've run out of representative cards for any given team, I've once again created a Fan Favorites set. Granted, former pitching coach Rick Kranitz may not be considered a fan favorite in most circles, but I've taken some liberties where cards were needed - especially for some of the expansion teams.
Love the Myatt card!
