Davey Lopes had one of the fullest mustaches of the 1970s, anywhere--and that's saying something.
ReplyDeleteHe had a number of Phillies team issue and Chachi cards, but as far as I know, he would be in your Phillies card collection on a Topps product just twice--can you name them?
9 days later, crickets....
ReplyDeleteWell, in case anyone is reading this, the answer is:
1) 1978 Topps 412, "NL Championships: Dodgers Overpower Phillies in Four" card, where he is shown (as a Dodger) hitting and Tim McCarver (as a Phillie) is shown behind the plate
2) 2009 Topps Heritage 466 (a short print), "Philadelphia Phillies Coaches", where he is shown with Rich Dubee and Milt Thompson.
For some reason, I've stopped getting e-mail notifications when there's a new comment so I just saw this.
ReplyDeleteAnd I can verify those are his only two "mainstream" Phillies cards!
He was the Phillies’ best first base coach ever, at least from the perspective of highest percentage of bases successfully stolen.
ReplyDeleteStrangely, I’m logged in to different accounts (Wordpress vs Google) on my phone and PC—but it’s the same Steve.
