Game 33 - 2018 Topps Heritage #184 Hector Neris

Nationals 5, Phillies 4
Game 33 - Sunday Afternoon, May 6th in Washington
Record - 18-15, 2nd place, 1 game behind the Braves

One Sentence Summary:  The Phillies' impressive comeback bid was ruined after Tommy Hunter and Hector Neris couldn't shut the door.

What It Means:  This was an absolutely brutal loss, and fortunately the team gets right back at it tonight opening a four-game series at home with the Giants.

What Happened:  With a 4-1 lead entering the bottom of the eight, Luis Garcia, Hunter and Neris combined to pitch 1 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on four hits and four walks.  They mixed in a wild pitch and a hit batter for good measure.  The Nationals walked off with the win after tying it up with a bases loaded walk from Neris.

Max Scherzer struck out 15 before exiting in the seventh inning with a 1-0 lead.  Nick Williams, Rhys Hoskins and Odubel Herrera delivered big RBI hits against the Nationals bullpen to give the Phillies a short-lived 4-1 lead.  Jake Arrieta allowed a run on just two hits in his six-inning outing.

Featured Card:  Trying a little reverse black cat on Neris here, who has either been decent or just plain awful this season.  Man he's hard to watch when he has games like this.  Brutal.
