2017 Bowman Chrome Prospect Refractors #BCP117 Rhys Hoskins

Mets 10, Phillies 0
Game 112 - Thursday Night, August 10th in Philadelphia
Record - 42-70, 5th place, 25 1/2 games behind the Nationals

One Sentence Summary:  The Mets continued their dominance over the Phillies with this lopsided 10-0 win.

What It Means:  This was a blow-out, and the Phillies never had a chance.

What Happened:  Vince Velasquez left after one inning with a numb right middle finger.  He, Jesen Therrien and Luis Garcia each allowed three runs to score.  Mark Leiter, Jr. struck out seven in five innings of relief, becoming the first Phillies relief pitcher to strike out seven or more batters in consecutive games since 1893!

Featured Card:  Slugger and top prospect Rhys Hoskins made his much-anticipated Major League debut in this game, going 0 for 2 with a strikeout and walk.  With the IronPigs this season, Hoskins was hitting .284 with 29 home runs and 91 RBIs.  His position is first base, but with Tommy Joseph stationed there for now, Hoskins will see time in left field for the Phillies.  This is the shiny refractor version of his 2017 Bowman Chrome Prospects card.

Transaction:  Hoskins had his contract selected and Cameron Perkins was optioned to Lehigh Valley.

Phillies Debut:  Hoskins is the 12th Phillies player to make his debut this season, and the 22nd overall new Phillie.

22.  Rhys Hoskins (lf) - Started and batted seventh, striking out against Jacob deGrom in his first at bat.
