Pirates 1, Phillies 0
Game 41 - Sunday Afternoon, May 21st in Pittsburgh
Record - 15-26, 4th place, 10 games behind the Nationals
One Sentence Summary: Aaron Nola's fantastic pitching performance upon his return from the disabled list was wasted due a lack of any Phillies offense.
What It Means: The Phillies have lost seven consecutive series for the first time since 2006. (Per Meghan Montemurro via Twitter.)
What Happened: The Pirates scored their sole run on a bases-loaded hit by pitch in the sixth inning. Nola threw 89 pitches in his return, throwing seven solid innings. He allowed four hits while striking out five. The Phillies offense managed three hits off Pirates starting pitcher Chad Kuhl and four relievers.
Featured Card: I haven't had any reasons to post a Nola card yet this season, so let's start with his base card from the Topps flagship set. Hopefully I'm posting many more of the young pitcher's cards as the season progresses.
Transaction: Nola was activated from the disabled list prior to the game.
As a side note to recent Wrigley Wax - Nola's card did not have to be horizontal - could have cropped shot out further and this would have been a great vertical looking card
