2017 Chachi Almost #7 Nick Fanti

Nationals 6, Phillies 2
Game 29 - Saturday Night, May 6th in Philadelphia
Record - 12-17, Tied for 3rd place, 8 1/2 games behind the Nationals

One Sentence Summary:  Take away a four-run Nationals sixth inning and Vince Velasquez pitched well in this 6-2 loss to the Nationals.

What It Means:  The Phils are in the midst of an awful six game losing streak.  Since the Dodgers series began on April 28th, they are 1-8.

What Happened:  Velasquez allowed six runs on seven hits in his seven innings of work, with Ryan Zimmerman (2 for 3, 3 RBIs) and Anthony Rendon (3-run home run in the sixth) doing most of the damage.  Cameron Rupp drove in both Phillies runs with an RBI single in the first and a solo home run (3) in the seventh.

Featured Card:  Aside from Odubel Herrera's leaping catch in the second inning to rob Zimmerman of a home run, there weren't many highlights in this game.  I found myself following the Lakewood BlueClaws game more than the Phillies game as BlueClaws pitcher Nick Fanti was working on a no-hitter.  Fanti pitched 8 2/3 innings of no-hit ball and reliever Trevor Bettencourt came on to record the final out.  It was the fifth no-hitter in Lakewood history.

Since I don't yet have a Fanti card in my collection, I felt the need to make him one to celebrate his feat.
