1981 Donruss #590 Mike Schmidt

Mariners 11, Phillies 6
Game 32 - Wednesday Afternoon, May 10th in Philadelphia
Record - 13-19, 3rd place, 8 games behind the Nationals

One Sentence Summary:  Joaquin Benoit and Jake Thompson allowed eight unanswered Mariners runs to score in the 7th and 8th innings as the Phillies lost, 11-6.

What It Means:  Other than watching the at-bats of the red hot Aaron Altherr, the Phillies aren't a fun team to watch right now.

What Happened:  Zach Eflin pitched well, allowing three runs in six innings.  Benoit entered the game with the score tied at three, but recorded just one out in the seventh. He was removed having allowed five runs on three hits.  Thompson allowed three more runs in the eighth to put the game out of reach.

Featured Card:  Altherr had two home runs to raise his season total to seven, giving him the team lead.  Todd Zolecki Tweeted that Altherr became the third Phillies player since 1929 to hit a three-run home run in three consecutive games joining Mike Schmidt (1981) and Andy Seminick (1949) in that exclusive club.
