Game 109 - Thursday Afternoon, August 6th in Philadelphia

One Sentence Summary: The Dodgers outlasted the Phillies in a slugfest, further damaging David Buchanan's and Justin De Fratus's ERAs in a 10-8 win.
What It Means: Jimmy Rollins and the Dodgers took the series with Rollins hitting .333 (4 for 12) against his old team with two doubles and two RBIs.
What Happened: The offense broke out against Zack Greinke in the first with five runs. Unfortunately, Buchanan couldn't contain the Dodgers and he'd leave after four innings having surrendered seven runs. De Fratus allowed three more runs in his two innings of work. Dalier Hinojosa provided the only real relief, pitching three scoreless innings.
Domonic Brown hit a three-run home run in the first and Odubel Herrera enjoyed a three-hit day.
Featured Card: Herrera raised his average to .288 in this game. His performance, along with the overall performance of the Phillies line-up, prompted Dodgers ace Greinke to say after the game:
“They’ve been swinging a lot better and I was looking at their team, their top five of the order — they’re little guys, a couple of them, and they’re younger so you don’t think too much. But they’re probably up there with the best top five we have to face. They probably don’t get people saying that too often, but I was looking at their numbers and what they hit. They’re all really solid. Maybe they don’t have the super superstar like the Mike Trouts of the world, but all five of those are really tough outs.”It appears as if things are looking up. And amazingly enough, we saw a young Phillies fan wearing a Herrera #37 jersey on the Ocean City Boardwalk on Thursday night.
Virtual Phillies Wall Updates: Following this game, Jordan Danks and Hinojosa were optioned back to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The Phillies selected the contract of pitcher Adam Loewen and activated Chase Utley from the disabled list.
