2004 Upper Deck Phillies McDonald's #17 Roberto Hernandez

Phillies 4, Diamondbacks 2
Game 105 - Sunday Afternoon, July 27th in Philadelphia
Record 46-59, 5th Place, 12 1/2 games behind the Nationals

Another Why Even Bother Post-Vacation Massive Catch-Up, Part 2 of 8

One Sentence Summary:  Roberto Hernandez pitched another solid game and the Phillies benefited from a few errors and the flawed new home plate collision rule in their 4-2 win over the Diamondbacks.

What It Means:  The Phillies notched a rare series win and head to New York to open a three game series with the Mets.

What Happened:  Hernandez won his fifth game of the year, thanks to seven strong innings in which he allowed just two runs on four hits.  Ryan Howard, recently de-benched (is that a word?), hit a two-run home run in the first and scored the go-ahead run in the sixth when it was ruled that Diamondbacks catcher Miguel Montero didn't give Howard the proper "lane" to score.  Howard was originally out on the play, but was ruled safe upon further review on instant replay.

Featured Card:  I'm fresh out of of the cards of the current Roberto Hernandez (the pitcher formerly known as Fausto Carmona), so the best I can do is present a card of the prior Roberto Hernandez.
