2014 Topps Phillies #PHI-13 Domonic Brown

Braves 9, Phillies 6
Game 13 - Monday Night, April 14th in Philadelphia
Record - 6-7, Tied for 3rd Place, 3 games behind the Braves

One Sentence Summary:  Jake Diekman's brutal ninth inning negated an impressive comeback by the Phillies, as the Braves won a late inning slugfest, 9-6.

What It Means:  Throughout every season, there are several tough losses that stick with you and result in bad vibes carrying over into the next day.  This was the first of that type of loss this season.

What Happened:  Down 5-1 heading into the bottom of the eighth, the Phillies scored five times, capped by Domonic Brown's dramatic three-run home run.  The deficit existed in the first place as a result of reliever B.J. Rosenberg giving up back-to-back-to-back home runs to the Braves in the top of the eighth.  Diekman entered the ninth with a one run lead and quickly loaded the bases, setting up Dan Uggla's deflating and depressing grand slam.

Featured Card:  Even though the team lost, I still wanted to feature one of Brown's newer cards in honor of his clutch home run to give the Phillies the lead for about 15 minutes.  This is the non-foil version of his base Topps card from this year's retail team set.
