2014 Topps Heritage #48 Marlon Byrd

Phillies 6, Marlins 3
Game 10 - Friday Night, April 11th in Philadelphia
Record - 4-6, Tied for 4th Place, 3 games behind the Nationals

One Sentence Summary:  The Phillies stopped their four-game losing streak with a surprising 6-3 win over the Marlins and their ace, Jose Fernandez.

What It Means:  After four depressingly sloppy games agains the Cubs and Brewers, the Phils returned home last night and looked as if they knew what they were doing.

What Happened:  All the production came from the heart of the order with Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, Marlon Byrd and Domonic Brown all contributing runs or RBIs.  Utley had two more hits to raise his average to .469 over the first ten games of the season.

Starting pitcher A.J. Burnett left in the fourth inning with a groin issue, but the bullpen was able to hold back the Marlins offense.  Rookie Mario Hollands pitched two shutout innings.

Featured Card:  I still have stacks of Topps Heritage cards staring at me, waiting to be sorted and checklist'd.  With my work schedule not letting up until next week and with the entire staff of The Phillies Room heading off to spring break shortly thereafter, the want list may just have to wait.

I was able to pull this Byrd card from the leaning stacks, and this represents his second official new Phillies card since rejoining the club this past offseason.  Donruss beat Heritage to the punch by about a week with a logo-less Byrd Phillies card.

Transaction:  Prior to the game, infielder Freddy Galvis (staph infection) was activated from the 15-day disabled list and infielder Cesar Hernandez was optioned to Double-A Reading.  Galvis will be card #35 in the 2014 Chachi set.
