1973 Topps #239
1973 Topps Flashback:  Pete Richert is probably one of the more obscure players covered this year in these flashbacks.  The lefty began his 13-year career with the Dodgers in 1962.  He was traded to the Senators in the deal that sent Frank Howard to Washington in December 1964.  During his time in Washington, Richert was named to two A.L. All-Star teams in 1965 and 1966.

He came back to the Dodgers for the 1972 and 1973 seasons after five seasons in Baltimore.  In December 1973, Richert was traded to the Cardinals but he wasn't there long.  And in late June 1974, he was sold to the Phillies where he wrapped up his career.  In 21 games with the Phils, Richert went 2-1 with an impressive 2.21 ERA.  He was released following the season, having never appeared as a Phillie on a baseball card.
