With the team-issued Phanatic master set out of the way, Brad decided to start a new mascot project and attempt to collect the mascot cards from all the Phillies minor league affiliates. He reached out to me for a list of minor league mascot cards in my collection, as a good starting point for his quest, and that list is presented below. If you know of any additional cards that I don't have listed, please leave a comment or send me an e-mail so that I can pass the information along to Brad.
Buster, the Lakewood BlueClaws mascot, is currently the dean of Phillies minor league mascots. And I'd have to say that it's a tie between The Pork Racers and Bo the Weevil for my favorite mascot card.

What, nothing for Reading's Crazy Hot Dog Vendor? Or does he not count as a mascot?
ReplyDeleteI know! I definitely consider him a mascot, but as far as I know, Reading has never given him a card.
ReplyDeleteThis is a horrific oversight.
Great list! And congrats to Brad for tracking down his final Phanatic card.
ReplyDeleteIn 1986, the Reading Phils had a (lame) mascot named Sillie Phillie, sort of a knock-off of the Phanatic. They put out a ProCards card of him that was not part of the regular set. I imagine it was given out to kids, but I'm not certain. It is pretty hard to find.
By the way, in a previous post you said you were moving toward 3rd base because of the direct sunlight. I took the whole family on Saturday for the afternoon game and we sat in 208 (just past first base). Man was the sun hard to take!
ReplyDeleteAnother loss for me, too. My record is 2-3, but one of the two wins was on Chooch bobblehead night, a school night for the 6 kids in our group, and so we had to leave after 10 only to hear Mayberry's walk-off slam win it in the 11th on the ride home. It hardly counts as a win....
Never heard of Sillie Phillie until now - awesome!
