2012 Topps Heritage Minors #115, #128 and #153 |
For me, the most intriguing names on the list are Cody Asche and Tommy Joseph. Asche is the heir apparent at third base for the Phillies and if all goes according to plan, he'll be manning the hot corner in 2014. With Clearwater and Reading last season, he hit .324 with 12 home runs and 72 RBIs. Joseph was acquired from the Giants in the Hunter Pence deal and MLB.com named him the organization's top position player.

I saw on MLBTradeRumors.com that Brian Schneider has retired... Has he ever appeared as a Phillie on anything other than that one autographed insert and the team-issued cards?
ReplyDeleteI'd meant to do up my own custom of him last year and go off about the huge injustice of his never getting a card, but I never quite got around to it. At least he's got Chachi cards...
Why?!?...that is all.
ReplyDeleteRules question: Does Tommy Joseph not need to be on the 40-man roster by reason of him not having enough service time? Or did the Phils just decide they didn't need to protect him because no team would be likely to draft him in the Rule V draft and then stash him on their 25-man roster? I had just assumed he was on the 40-man roster so I was surprised to see this reference to him as an NRI.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen Schneider on anything besides that autographed insert and the team-issued photocards. He deserved better!
By the way, tickets went on "pre-sale" today to people with season and partial season ticket packages. I'm now set for Opening Day, the two bobblehead days and a fireworks night. Tickets are at full retail for this pre-sale opportunity; after this, they will be available to season ticket holders at the discounted season ticket price (assuming they do the same as last year). Most of the rest of the games should be purchasable during the season either at that discounted price or else on StubHub for even less.
ReplyDeleteBring on the 2013 season! (Even if it seems likely to end on September 29 for this team.)
I am pleased to announce that Brian Schneider will have a final Chachi Transactions card, coming soon.
ReplyDeleteCollectors everywhere rejoice.
Steve - On your Joseph question, I'm pretty sure it has everything to do with service time.
ReplyDeleteHigh hopes for the '13 season!
