Phillies at Braves: April 8th through April 10th

Turner Field - Atlanta, GA
Friday 7:35, Saturday 1:10, Sunday 1:35

Records: Phillies 5-1, 1st Place in NL East (2 games ahead of the Marlins and Mets); Braves 3-4, 4th Place in NL East (2 1/2 games behind the Phillies)

First Game: Back on May 4, 1883, the Boston Beaneaters defeated the Philadelphia Quakers by a score of 11-10 at Philadelphia's Recreation Park. Details of this first game between the franchises that would eventually become the Braves and the Phillies have been lost to time. However, starting for the Phillies that day was 20-year-old John Coleman who would post a record of 12-48 in 1883. The 48 losses represent a single season loss record that stands to this day.

At the Ballpark:  It's Opening Day at Turner Field today and there's a whole host of activities planned for the weekend.  Fans will receive a Braves schedule magnet tonight and Saturday and fireworks follow tonight's game.  Kids can run the bases following Saturday afternoon's game.  And on Sunday, not only is it Alumni Sunday, where former Braves will sign autographs before the game, The Avett Brothers are performing a free post-game concert on the field.  Pretty cool.

Phillies Probables: Cliff Lee, Roy Oswalt, Cole Hamels
Braves Probables: Tim Hudson, Brandon Beachy, Derek Lowe
