Phillies 9, Rockies 5Game 32 - Monday Night, May 10th in Denver
11:35 - Drifting in and out of sleep, I finally decided to call it a night and go to bed with the Phillies and Rockies knotted in a 5-5 tie.
12:17 - This is the estimated time when the game actually ended, based on the 3:37 time of game in the boxscore.
I wish I could have stayed awake long enough to see the Phils' 4-run rally in the top of the 9th. The team took the first of a 3-game set in Denver behind the offense of Carlos Ruiz and the speed of Shane Victorino, who hit two triples and scored three times.
Ruiz remains red-hot and hopefully he's accumulating enough votes to send him to Anaheim for the 2010 All-Star Game. He went 4 for 5 last night with the game-winning RBI in the 9th inning. He's now hitting .354, which places him 3rd in batting average in the National League. He leads the league with a .481 on-base percentage. The hot bat he displayed in the 2009 Postseason (aka Chooch-tober) has shown no signs of cooling off.
Pinch-hitter Ross Gload put the game out of reach after Chooch's heroics with a 3-run home run. Newly appointed interim closer Jose Contreras pitched a scoreless 9th to close out the game.
Bullpen Woes: With Brad Lidge out (again) because of the bum elbow and J.C. Romero still shaking off rust, Contreras and Chad Durbin have been the heroes of the Phillies' 2010 bullpen so far. There's no word yet as to how serious Lidge's latest ailment is, and if it will result in another DL stint.
