The Phillies acquired Sixto Lezcano from the Padres on August 31, 1983. This was too late to be included in a Phils' uniform, in any 1983 card sets, including the Topps Traded series. Of course, this completely bugged me at the time, so I'm righting a 26-year-old wrong. This is the card that should have appeared in the '83 Topps Traded set.
Sixto was the Phils' right-fielder and clean-up hitter (!) in Game 1 of the 1983 World Series, batting behind
Mike Schmidt. Unfortunately, Sixto struggled in the World Series, going only 1 for 8. Sixto shared right-field duties with
Joe Lefebvre during the '84 season, his last with the team.
