2013 Topps Gypsy Queen #128 Roger Bernadina

Nationals 11, Phillies 2
Game 149 - Sunday Afternoon, September 15th in Washington
Record 69-80, 3rd Place, 20 games behind the Braves

One Sentence Summary:  The Nationals crushed Tyler Cloyd and the Phillies, 11-2.

What It Means:  So much for that winning record!  Unless the team wins their last 13 games, this will be the first season since 2002 that the Phillies will finish with a losing record.  The '02 Phils went 80-81 that year under second year manager Larry Bowa.  A more realistic goal is to finish with a 7-6 record, giving the team a 76-86 record overall, which would be one more win than Terry Francona's 1998 squad.

What Went Wrong:  Starter Cloyd and reliever Joe Savery took the brunt of the punishment from the Nationals, giving up a combined nine runs in their 4 1/3 innings of work.

Featured Card:  The top offensive performer for the Phillies was ex-National Roger Bernadina, who was making his first appearance back in Washington since the team cut ties with him in mid-August.  Bernadina had two doubles and reached on a walk.  His sole base card this year can be found in the Gypsy Queen set, and I can't imagine he's a likely candidate to receive a Phillies card in the upcoming Topps Update set.  But you never know . . .
